Makar Oak Aged Gin Strikes Gold at San Francisco World Spirits Competition

Makar Oak Aged Gin has picked up a prestigious Gold Medal at the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

The competition, now nearly two decades old, is based on a blind tasting process by a number of esteemed expert judges.

Out of thousands of entries into this year’s competition, Makar Oak Aged Gin came out on top, picking up the Gold Medal in the ‘Barrel Aged’ category.

Makar Old Tom Gin also picked up an award, winning a Silver Medal in the ‘Old Tom’ category.

The 2 Medals are the latest in a busy year for our Makar Gin range, which picked up 20 awards in 2017.

Award wins so far this year include two Silver Awards at the International Spirits Challenge, a Silver Award at the World Gin Awards and a Gold Award at the Berlin International Spirits Competition, as well as multiple commendations at the 2018 Bartenders Brands Awards. The Glasgow Distillery was also named ‘Scottish Gin Distillery of The Year at the Berlin International Spirits Competition.
